WP4: Development of VO2/Si components

This work package will investigate and develop an ultra-fast, ultra-small footprint and ultra-low power consumption 2x2 photonic switching component based on the VO2 on silicon approach. As in WP3, there will be a strong interaction with WP2 to optimize the fabrication processing based on the material technology developed in that WP. The fabricated samples will be characterized and several iterations will also be carried out to improve the design. The developed switching component will be used to fabricate the functional demonstrator (switching matrix) in WP5.
